Image hosted by Photobucket.com It's Time For That Season Once Again!

Sometime events in a year happened repetitiously or with a cycle such as new year and etc. But there's this really one event that I have been tuning in since grade 5 now and that's.......

THE ACADEMY AWARDS/ OSCAR AWARDS SHOW!

That little golden statue has been held for 80 times now and it will be the 81st time now this year. Since I make it a point to at least exude a vibe of "movie blogness" in my blog coz I am an avid fan of films, I try to put in reviews or movie news here in my blog. :hehe I just can't help but talk about movies...

There have been a lot of speculation about the nominees before they were announced and most of possible candidates were those nominated by the Golden Globes but.... surprise surprise, favorites were NOT chose. Here are the complete list of nominees from theMovieBlog (my oldest favorite movie blog site but not my fave blog critic). my comments are in // (nahawa na sobra sa Computer, lolz!)

Best Picture

“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” // Okay, I wasn't expecting this, not this MUCH!

“Frost/Nixon” // haven't watched yet so.... can't really say anything

“Milk” // DYING TO SEE THIS!

“The Reader” // They say it isn't as good, 68% lang sa Rottentomatoes

“Slumdog Millionaire” // OMG YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY WIN! Those who haven't watched this are MISSING LOTS!

/** Some are quite furious why Dark Knight and The Wrestler weren't nominated. I loved the Dark Knight, I really do but it wasn't enough to save itself from a few bad acting and URGH plot holes. There was really something missing in there FOR ME. I did wish that Christopher Nolan was nominated for Best Director, but TDK earned nominations in the right places (the Academy still credits it!) But I was surprised that The Wrestler wasn't nominated. It was a REALLY beautiful film!

Wall*e.... why weren't you nominated?? Urgh!! But how the heck did "Waltz with Bashir" (a foreign animated movie) get into the Best Foreign film category while Wall*e DOES NOT? And Persepolis only won Best Animated Film last 2000 something. Sighs...

School's really sucky yesterday. I officially WANT MATH TO LOVE ME ( i don't care if I'm going to sound like some crazy girl in an unrequited love, BUT I HAVE TO!) and am going to study WITH FORCE on computer. And midterms are on Tuesday. BOTH MIDTERMS on the SAME DAY. Isn't life great?

NOT.

Well I have this thing to look forward to this summer vacation...

//repost from Tumblr

In case you can't read the blurry pic... it's.... the ITINERARY FOR THE SHANGHAI TRIP!  think this Shanghai trip that will be
sponsored by my uncle (well ung airfare and it helps my parents a lot!)

It'll be my 2nd time to go China and this time, to a real city. Last time I went was to Fu Jian (our province) and it's really provincial there.  His family moved to Shanghai after being transferred sa company
niya to a higher position. Dati nasa Denmark siya hehe and sayang di
nakavisit doon. But it’s OK! Shanghai is good!

I’m going with my other uncle’s family! Mum and dad can’t come coz
of the dogs and business. (haha parang pasingit lang ako oh, - Pls have
Tiff tag along nalang. lolz!)

So i gotta go Study guys. Hell Months are here to stay! :((

Olllaaa my friends! Again, I have been MIA the past couple of weeks due to SCHOOL STRESS, STRESS and MORE STRESS! hehe  If you guys visited my tumblr, I have a pic there of my planner which was instantly filled the minute I got back to school. Practices, projects, trainings and paperworks have now become my flesh and blood. Going online and chatting with you guys is just one of the perks. Now I have to finish my FINAL draft on my English research paper and I hope to God that it's OK! hehe. :p

Anyway I was in the mood to blog. I mean I've been meaning to blog coz I found these AMAZING innovations on the internet. Who says that the youth and society are getting dumber? NO EFFING WAY! If people could mass produce mini-shelter homes or a bag-chargers, then the world would be a better place. Look at these fantastic creations

The Uber Shelter
"Dismantled, the Über Shelter looks like a large gray gurney. But this
compact pile of aluminum unfolds into a two-story home, complete with
lights, stove, porch and a small refrigerator. Rafael Smith, a senior
in the industrial design program at Purdue University, designed the Über Shelter for his undergraduate thesis project.

On a vacation in Manila the summer before he began the project, he was
shocked by the crushing living conditions of those in poverty; when he
got home, he began researching the architecture of shelters around the
world. With no previous knowledge of refugee camps, he sought the
advice of doctors, policy makers aid workers and a Sudanese refugee he
met online."

Soo Cool! It's just sad that it was inspired by Manila in a bad way... well it's now good because it could hopefully solve a few of our problems (and he might send a few free ones too! hehe).

SOLAR BAG
"Joe Hynek may be the only student at Iowa State University
who carries a handbag for “scientific purposes.” On cloudless days, he
wanders his neighborhood to test whether the purse, which is plated in
thin solar panels and contains a lightweight battery, is absorbing
energy from the sun. After three hours of direct exposure, the purse
generates enough electricity to charge an iPod, camera or cellphone.
(The bag will also charge — more slowly — if placed next to a window.)
Mr. Hynek is currently working on the final touch: a small display
screen that will indicate when the purse is best angled for absorbing
the day’s light."

I'd love to have a bag like this! Man, you could charge anything now and it'd save you LOADS on electric bills! hehe just wish they'd improve sa design pa. :p hehe

ELEPHANT STUFF

"Lily Chong and Matt Kalish, both 21-year-old juniors majoring in
industrial design, thought about interactive toys for the assignment,
perhaps two tigers whose eyes would light up when a child touched the
paws together. Then one day the class was critiquing student projects,
and someone dismissed an idea as “That’s so gay.” As students debated
whether the phrase was offensive, the professor stepped in to steer the
class back on topic. But some students left the class feeling awkward.
You couldn’t just ignore the issue or bury hurt feelings.

Ms.
Chong and Mr. Kalish started thinking about elephants instead of
tigers. Rather than being the figurative thing unsaid, maybe an actual
elephant in the room could help people talk about difficult subjects.
They came up with the idea of stuffed elephants that would communicate
via wireless chips buried inside their soft centers. If one person in a
room squeezes an elephant for three seconds, all the other elephant
eyes light up. “It lets everyone know there’s an issue, we have to talk
about it,” Ms. Chong says. The person raising the concern remains
anonymous. "

It'd be a cool  giveaway and a neat tool for learning in my opinion. Plus it looks SUPER CUTE!! goodness! hehee

I've also expressed here in my blog my admiration of a few people, namely Robert Downey Jr., Johnny Depp, Bill Gates and especially STEVE JOBS (co-founder of Apple AND Pixar!!-- my future job place! well i like to think so anyway). My lappy and panda-touch wouldn't be here right now if it weren't for him. Microsoft would just be boring if they didn't have any competition at all. Jobs brough something to the game! I just read an article on the latest TIME magazine concerning the possibility of Jobs' retirement (GASP!) due to his health problems (hormonal imbalance thing, he had pancreatic cancer then, grabe... hope he's OK..). Now we've seen Gates' step down from his mighty position and Microsoft is still on the roll. But what IF Steve Jobs leaves Apple? MacWorld survived the experience without Job's notable Keynote address which was instead precided by Phil Schiller, a candidate for the next CEO if ever Job's retires. He did a decent but without the "presence" of Jobs. Jobs was an innovator and everyone simply have to lend their ears to this Houdini who has LOADS of things to say.

I do hope he gets well soon.. I mean Apple still has a lot of potential! Now that it has covered mobile phones, they might probably go into printer/scanner/whatever things. He'd probably create a new line of something spectacular... so hopefully the imagination of Apple doesn't die out yet... PLS!!!

Sorry for the passinate rant. I'd love to work for Apple/Pixar but with Steve Jobs still sa head! hehe.

I've actually have a lot more things to say. Like the time....

.........I ERASED THE TRASH BIN WITH MY 37.9GB WORTH OF DISNEY/PIXAR MOVIES!! (55 movies in all!!) So yeah, I had to download them again. 5.11gb down. 32 more to go!!
.........I GOT OUR CUTE PERSIAN KITTY NAMED KATY/KATIE/KITTEY
.........I watched the OPENING specials of AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 8!! (i still don't see THE ONE. But Michael Castro - Jason Castro's younger bro - is CUTE! haha :P)
.........our Ateneo INTACT Exposure trip with street kids!!
.........NINTENDO DS is ALIVE once more!!

More happenings from me in tumblr! Pls do goo viisit! hehe :p Follow me there and I'll follow you too! :P hehe

Well have to go now! EEP! ALMOST 7PM! haha must do research paper!

Got a myyearbook thing too... hehe Add me!

Updates when I update :P :cool

Hey guys!

I've been neglecting blogger for a while and have been tinkering with tumblr more! I just can't help it because of the ease and the minimal hard work I have to put through. Whenever I do a blog post, I always have this plan of what to say, how it's going to be said and such. :P hehe. At least with tumblr, a sentence-post won't be unusual but of course, my lengthy posts are sort of evident there too so PLS visit me there too! I'll definitely update it EVERYDAY because of Project 365. Actually it's also a place for my movie news, book news and more! hehe :P It's a really cool to-share site. Visit and follow me guys!! :p hehe

Anyway, here's a VERY SHORT video blog. An announcement of sorts. hehe Sorry no effects here and it's even cut off! I decided to have a cut off video... just to spice it up?? LOLZ! Cliff hanger eh. hehe :P

Vlog# 8 Announcement-ing! haha from Tiffany K on Vimeo.

Another announcement, I've actually joined Sis Aisha's Candy Chic of the Month on Candy-Blush.net! It's kind of a big thing for me since... I don't really join these stuffs. But I do love the tips on Candy-blush.net like the one on the berries that could help you slim and the other purposes of petroleum jelly! hehe. Go join too guys! It would be fun if all us girls here could join :P

I've got a health tip to share too. Have you ever struggled for sleep on some days? I mean you just lie awake on your bed and counting sheep doesn't seem to work. I recently just had this problem but it was cured instantly. After not being able to sleep after 15 minutes, go to a quiet and dim place and just do some reading or have a cup of tea to calm yourself. The milk routine also works and you just need to drink a warm glass of milk. You'll feel sleepy a little bit and it's off to dreamland and sheep! hehe :P

Visit my tumblr nalang guys, I posted there about my exciting news! Such as the revival of my 12-yr old piano keyboard, my training with Buffy (my pet african grey parrot! hehe :P) and more! Pls do visit!~ I'll update this blogger around 1-2x a week! hehe :p Well tc now guys!!

Updates when I update!! :cool

新的約定。。。

還沒看到你。。。。只會想念你。。。

Haha disregard second line! To those who can read Chinese... SSSssshhh nalang! lolz. Well basically my subject is how you read the first line "xin de yue ding". It literally means New Agreement or as I'd prefer to call it, New Promise. It's a promise to myself sort of. To start a change. Throw away the old conventions (okaaay.. maybe not exactly throwing away! haha :hehe) and welcome new friends (hi new linkies! :yay). As you can see I've done the first one by making my FIRST ever video blog/vlog! Scroll down to watch my *belated* Halloween message if ya haven't watched yet. Or of course, if ya just want to see me make a fool out of myself, you're welcome to! hehe. Thanks sobra sa positive feedback lolz even though I still think I talk like a child/boy. I never did like my voice... haha i'll probably do another one soon! =) But have to be discreet... I don't want my mum and dad to know I'm doing these... lolz!!

And about something new... I'm absolutely DYING to change my layout because Panda has long been gone on a vacation! I must revamp this site coz... it's already a mess if you can see. lolz! I already have something in mind and I need the artist's permission to use his characters (ano kaya un?? haha suspense!! lolz) so I'm not sure when it will be done but IT WILL BE DONE this year! That's A FACT! hehe.

I need help though, would you guys rather see a site mostly composed of NEON or PASTEL colors? Tag me or comment and I'll gladly do it! I'm having trouble choosing you see... hehe thanks! =)

And I want to start anew in college again. I don't know. I'm just determined more to make it better. To become better at my academic performance (DEAN'S LIST! I WON'T LET YOU GO AWAY!!), to increase school spirit (maybe it's time I get a school shirt.. I don't even have a PE shirt yet...), to mingle more with orgs and blockmates (asides from card playing! i wanna bond! lolz) and to... do something i don't know yet. lolz! :haha. I'm weird like that..

Me, Chair, Chu, Joan

I had such a blast last Halloween night coz it was also my friend Jasmine's debut!! She really had an original idea (well for me anyway coz I haven't seen one like it) for her theme and i loved seeing everyone in hats! Haha I love my mom too coz she found the ridiculously pinkish-floral-with-dead-bird-on-top hat!! haha I won a PHILLIPS DVD PLAYER! lolz. Fun fun fun! =) Glad to see my barkada (Danelle isn't there though!! wahh) and my high school third year family!! They're simply the best for me.... sighs... how did ya spend your halloween night? Or All Saint's Day? hehe.

Oh here's another new thing I wanna try... COSPLAY!! SShhhh again... I know I haven't watched anime for a long time but I've watched a good deal and still be able to call myself an anime fan. Just that.. after the party last Oct 31, it was just fun to dress up! lolz. Problem with cosplay is the costumes and actually becoming the anime character you portrayed! Here's a cosplay blog in case you don't know what cosplay is. I'm just a bit disturbed when girls portray guys... I'm sorry...but I really do find it weird! Pics gotten from here!!

Lineage II Dark Elf
Amazing dedication! Is that really WHOLE BODY PAINT?

The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi - Suzumiya Haruhi
She looks... so much like the character!! I love it!

Naruto - Uchiha Sasuke
Fierce!! But as I have said... girl portraying guys... but anyways I like it!

One thing that will never change in my blog is movie news. SWEAR. You'll read about movies, watch about movies and talk about movies here!! lolz. I'm such a movie geek that I hope to work in film someday! (Taking Computer Science as a course is my first step!)

Here's a trailer of Slumdog Millionaire, one of my most awaited films this year! I first heard about this in one of my favorite movie blogs that it was showing in the famous Toronto Film Festival and it WON people's choice award! Cinematical who did a super review gives a good summary,

Fans of director Danny Boyle's work will find much to appreciate in his latest film, Slumdog Millionaire, a sweeping, hopeful story about a boy in the slums of India who becomes an instant celebrity after he wins millions on India's version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?. Adapted by Simon Beaufoy (The Full Monty, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) off the novel Q &A by Vikas Swarup, the tale is framed within an interesting narrative structure that revolves around the young man, Jamal, being interrogated for fraud by the police, who cannot believe that a "slumdog" orphan could possibly have known the answers to the questions on the show.

Another Indian film on my watch list! So far, I am enjoying IMMENSELY Indian films as I have told ya about The Namesake and I have also downloaded Bride and Prejudice (Indian take on Pride and Prejudice) which was pretty OK. Some stars in The Namesake would appear on Slumdog and I can't wait to watch them! yey!!

Here's the trailer! =) :hehe

Now I'm so sorry for another long post! Urgh... Just have so much to say.. Maybe I'd vlog it next time! :hehe =)

Updates when I update! :cool

***EDIT!!
Ate Yesha gave me a Halloween message! Aww ang cute! =) Thanks ate ah!! *hugz* I've also joined some contests *points to sidebar* haha! Wish me luck! :P =)

yeshahall

I've also joined this special contest on winning Moleskin's notebooks! They have gorgeous paper such as this pic

moleskinentry

Well ya have to write a short story using only one sentence and here's my entry.

One midsummer night's eve, the remnants of a snow flake inconceivably spilled its teardrops on a little girl's notebook of sorrows: life, death, and memory.

Hope that's okay!! hehe =)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Boo Yeah Month!

Before anything else, I'd like to thank all my new link exchanges for... agreeing to link exchange with me!! hahaa!! :yay Nice meeting ya all and hopefully we'll keep this strong!! Special mention to Aisha, Beena, Beng, Chiui, Evan, Gelly, Jha, Jhoice, Jeru, Karen Ken, and Sha!Thanks also guys for supporting me sa last post! I know it was loong... so sorry for my new readers. I love long posts for some reason.. Or maybe it's because I'm really loquacious. Haha!

I'm open to link exchanges guys!! =) :hehe

To all those who haven't heard... this is the new trailer for High school musical 3!!!

Okayz.... I was kidding. hahaa! :haha This is just a spoof, fan-made video courtesy of Slashfilm who thought that it was brilliant to mix the Saw and High School Musical franchise together. Lolz! Now I don't think it would be a box office smash hit but lolz~ I liked the way they mixed the scenes and when Troy Bolton/Zac Efron suddenly held a pair of knives! Lolz!! Hahhaa. It's October, bee happy for the Halloween season.

and i just watched HSM3!! THE REAL ONE!! It was a blast! If you're a senior now in high school, I'm sure that all of you can relate with it. Even I a recent graduate, is already reminiscing the days... the plays... the fights.... the WINS!! My gosh... I super miss high school! It's not an Oscar-worthy show, but it's all about fun, friends and high school! It's definitely BETTER than the SECOND!! I can't say that it's as good as the first though coz... none of the songs are catchy enough to get stuck in your head unlike Breaking Free. Lolz!! Haha but nevertheless... the songs and DANCE MOVES ARE GREAT!! as in!!!! Watch it guys!! =) :hehe

Speaking of Halloween season, what guys are you planning to do on Halloween? Are you going trick or treating? I wish I did, it's been 7 years since my first and last trick or treat. I'm gonna spend it the old school way and have a horror movie marathon! Yey!! I love horror movies sans/EXCEPT for the torture gore ones like Saw. Urgh, i detest senseless movies about blood and gore and cutting off one's limbs. I'd rather be spooked out or crepped out rather than grossed out in a very bad bad sense. Zombie movies are okay, just not Hostel or Saw. Go suggest peepz!!

And I'd suggest one of my own finds from Slashfilm again. Trick 'r Treat. Hehe it's a new premise and it's kinda creepy that they use kids to spook grownups out. There is just something VERY CREEPY about children who are gonna attack ya. Brrr!!! Here's the trailer and I think it's AWESOME!!

I'm keeping this short coz it's brown-out here (THE THIRD FOURTH TIME THIS MONTH!! WHAT THE HELL??) and the battery's gonna be dead in a few minutes. URGHHH!! :grr Wish my family luck and pray for us guys.... Our lot has been sold and hopefully at a right price and if the other lot gets sold again... we're finally getting our own house... our OWN house!! We're just renting out this recidence see, and I can't wait to leave the place. I know I'm going to miss this so much since I've stayed here for 10 years already but.... there are more perks in moving!! whoot! lolz. :hehe

Well gtg now!!

Updates when I update! :cool

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Freedom...freedom!! *sings*

I am so sorry for not blogging earlier guys. :wah I still feel uncomfortable with this tooth predicament and I am now feeling this weird twitches. There was even once when I felt this TICKLISH feeling and of course the itchy feeling of the lower teeth area. I hope that this would be gone by TOMORROW because I'm going to visit my high school tomorrow! I super can't wait!!! hehee :hehe

Sighs.. I'm tired of bread... that's all I've been eating since Thursday. Hopefully I lost some pounds already..:hehe

My mom just told me a piece of good news yesterday! There's a possibility that we might go to Dubai and stay over at my mom's friend's house! Whoot!! I've been wanting to SEE *take note, see, i can't afford to spend a night in these hotels!* the uber mega famous hotels of Dubai like the Burj-Al-Arab hotel! :yay

"Designed to resemble a billowing sail, the hotel soars to a height of 321 metres, dominating the Dubai coastline. At night, it offers an unforgettable sight, surrounded by choreographed colour sculptures of water and fire.

This all-suite hotel reflects the finest that the world has to offer. With your chauffeur driven Rolls Royce, discreet in-suite check in, private reception desk on every floor and a brigade of highly trained butlers who provide around-the-clock attention, you can be assured of a highly personalised service throughout your stay."

from the site

@_@ butlers?? haha! And despite being a small country, Dubai is very technological advanced so being a gadget freak, I won't be able to help but drool all over the place! This dream has yet to become a reality this December. I HOPE that it will be a reality *prays*

To all my American friends out there, i know that the presidential election is near and all of you have problem either Obama or McCain in mind (personally, I think Obama would win!!) but here's just something to tickle your funny bone. I was browsing over Cinematical's posts and found an array of obama-mccain "movie posters"! Super laughtrip lang!! I have nothing against the candidates but it sure is a fun parody :p. Especially Step Brothers, Dumb and Dumber, etc! :haha

Onto a more serious note, this presidential election, or ANY for that matter, is a life-changing event. That is why it is so IMPORTANT to ponder over the abilities of the candidates and VOTE for your country's leader. It's just saddening to think that some people actually throw away their FREEDOM to vote. I mean people, you have a democratic country which PEOPLE have fought for the PEOPLE's good welfare and you're just throwing away centuries' sacrifices? As a citizen, one must take it a duty to take care of their homeland, their country. I don't know... I'm just saying that people should think it over carefully and not shotgun their votes. May the Lord help us.

If you haven't read my previous post *the one right before this* and watched the trailer for Persepolis, PLEASE DO! I'm encouraging you all to watch this little animation especially in times like this to further understand the freedom that we have.

I've been meaning to write about the situation with my brother but I think I'll save it for another day. It'll be another long post and i don't want to be dragging anymore. Well tc now!! :hehe

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Foreign Nut

Foreign nut (n.) - 1. A person who's a fanatic or who's starting to become a fanatic of other cultures. Absorbs them bit by bit or nut by nut 2. Other meaning is simply a nut you've never heard of 3. A crazy foreigner :bleh

I'm starting to like inventing words. Or at least give meaning to some. Now I've become a foreign nut. While running on the treadmill last Monday, I was watching a documentary featuring South Korean films and their directors and all I can say is... they're all mind-blowing! I'm not talking about romantic comedies we're all used to because of telenovelas but there are actually good and maybe even oscar-worthy about these films. Some even encompass the usual North American films and some are like it (Matrix! there's like this Matrix korean film thingy) but what makes these films look more interesting is because of their particular culture. You can see their traditions and their views about life. And how they're being broken.

The magnitude of how America has influenced the world is so great. Now after watching The Namesake and Persepolis, both foreign films, I saw that it's not only the Philippines that has been into this "American thing". Even Indians or French Iranians (watch Persepolis! One of my favorite animation films now!) are influenced into listening this punk rock thing, eating Burgers, partying and all American. I thought that only Filipinos are the uber crazy about Americans but now I now am wrong. There are also as many Filipinos as there are Indians (well i think) in America and they too are suffering the same fate. Should they still follow arranged marriages? Should they only marry their same kind? How about Iranians? They have it worse because of the super strict government they have and the recent wars they're experiencing, it's hard to express their freedom now. Teens are actually being forced by families to leave Iran for their sake and future. But the thing is.. I think Filipinos are still more Americanized. lolz. Just watch these films and you be the judge.

The NameSake features the struggle of one Indian family has to go through living in America. These struggle focuses on finding their own identity especially the children's (Kal Penn and the girl). Despite this being a boring premise, the film actually tugs your heartstrings because you really feel the emotions of each of the member of the family as they take you through the times of the parents up to their children's. And there are lots of humorous scenes too especially watching this Indian tradition of ladies flicking their tongues and saying "Whoo whoo!" during a marriage ceremony. I know it's supposed to be serious but I can't help but laugh! Watch it guys! Torrent it. Rent it or something.

Now Persepolis, go buy it!! (or torrent it like me) This is how much I recommend this littel animation feature! Running only at 1 hr and 30 minutes, this film is packed with insanely fun humor and a LOT of political views especially in the first few minutes of the film. It is needed because of the reality of Iran. They can't help but be political. I was a bit apprehensive about this film though. Sure it's got an Oscar nod for best foreign (wait, was it foreign film???) but come on, 99% of the time, the film is in black and white! The drawing's plain, nothing exactly significant in that department but the story is the focus here. Not the drawing but the story. And a little peculiar quirk about this film is that the dialogue is in French but it's talking about Iran. Now I don't know how to categorize it. Maybe it's still a french film. This story is about the tale of an Iranian girl and we see her go through life in Iran as she progresses to become the Iranian woman. I swear, I explain the film so badly but this film is a gem! It cracked me up loads of times and the story is.. so... true. It's so true that it's funny already. GO WATCH! :yay

In other news... THERE IS ACTUALLY A BRAND NEW LINE OF MACBOOKS AND MACBOOK PROS! I can't believe the shock I got when Apple e-mailed me that there is already a new line! And to think I just recently got a Macbook Pro :wat @_@. :dead but I am so thankful that Apple only focused on the aesthetics and not the functionality in their improvements. They changed the design, added a few more graphic cards or something to enhance the graphics and voila! That's it. Well that's what I think anyway. Head over to Apple for more details. Sighs... technology these days.. you never know how to keep up. Please don't be like fashion! :wah

I've finally posted more pics at Multiply! I forgot to blog about St. Francis of Assisi's feast day/National Pet Day! There was this pet blessing held in Eastwood City and my mum decided to go!! Haha it was fun seeing the pets and also their pet owners. There are actually a lot of owners who SPOIL their doggies. *they put them in strollers! like kids!* We brought Pawpi, Toto, Rocky and Coco! hehe.

I just had my SECOND molar extraction and I can tell ya that IT HURTS MORE than the first one here in this entry. URGH! More icepacks please! And what's worse is it's hard to swallow now and I'm getting coughs. sighs.. I just hope that the pain will end tomorrow. PLEASE! Now I look like some tomato coz of this blown up face of mine. Sighs... it looks like I've got the mumps. :wah

Well gtg now!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Faffle waffle

Faffle (n./v.) - in Tiffspeak means hello for good mornings. A 'hey yo' only in times of morning (12am - 11am). When used outside of time frame, it is disregarded as nonsensical blabberings of a lunetic.

Faffle everyone (if it's morning there, then HELLO! otherwise, just consider me on my usual crazy self)!!:hihi See what boredom can do to you? You invent words. To amuse yourself, you actually give crazy advices to people such as imitating a jet lag person so that they can experience the feeling of being "traveled" (right Roberpo?). It's only day 5 of sembreak (whoot one month of NOTHING to do!!) and I'm already going bonkers. Operation sembreak is now in session and I am officially burning 100-300 calories a day! I hope a month of exercise and acitivity is gonna do me good! Hhehee =) But I have 3 parties this month... crap....

Rainy season is here and it's not yet cold enough. :wah Where's the icy/breezy wind? All I feel is the humidity of the dang rains and makes me want to sweat more. Ugh. And you know what? The depressing atmosphere actually reflects the devastating situation of the global economic crisis the WORLD is experiencing. Stocks are going down, value of money is going down and everything is just DOWN. I can't read the front page of the newspaper anymore because I'll just grumble and say "Oh now what.." Sighs.. and to top it all, I now can't eat chocolates without thinking... "May melamine ba ito?" ("Is there melamine in this?") :grrr

I know that everyone is tired of talking about it, but we can't stop from talking about it because how else would we solve something without tackling anything? My uncle who's really into economics (maybe that's why he's so rich now...) shared some tidbits with my mother and I would like to share it now with you guys

"Times are really hard and will even be harder in the next 12 months.  My job here is reading and monitoring all the gloomy forecasts and assessing the global inherent/emerging risks in Maersk.  The current global financial crisis is really very bad.  There will be more uncertainties in the next 12 months.  All industries are affected!   One of the highest risk is actually on CONTRACTUAL PARTIES and OBLIGATIONS.  We will see business contracts being cancelled, customers and suppliers going bankrupt or simply running out of liquidity, more banks going bust.   There will be very limited cashflow in markets.  Cost of borrowing will go up.  Financial institutions will restrict lending to each other.  Applying for future loans will be more complicated than ever with more collaterals and background checks required.   In short keep an eye on your cashflow and accts receivables.  Limit your credit exposure to customers.  Cut down on un-necessary spendings.

Metrobank and BDO are the 2 hardest hit from the collapse of Lehman Brothers in MNL.  Avoid gambling in stocks.  Enter stock market only by end 2009 when things have settled down.  There will be a lot of goose chase in the coming months investigating what we really went wrong and how it can be avoided in future. All these will be exercise in futility as they will never get to the bottom of all these.   The world economy has enjoyed so much wealth flowing during the last 10 years, with its peak in 2006.  There was so much speculations and hedging on many things -- real estate, commodity prices -- causing inflation to surge.  Many companies simply fogot to exercise proper Risk Management, abused Governance, lacked Transparency and did not do full Disclosures on their financial state. In short we now learn that there are too many irresponsible corporations around the world and greedy middlemen in between trades and business.

People will have to go back to basic.  Agriculture and food industry will remain robust. Population will continue to grow, people need to eat, people need to survive.  Be on the look out for alternative investments or business ventures in agriculture - be it on fishery, poultry or farming.  Of course, this will demand different risks on pests, health and safety standards but all these risks are controllable.   Imports from made in China has taken a toll and there's no more confidence on chinese food products.   Avoid engaging in commodity trades for the next 2 yrs - incl. dairy, gold, oil, etc.   Commodity prices are quite unstable and global tariff and tax regulations will only be more complex in the next 5 yrs. So much focus are being put on regulatory compliance (tax, labour, health, safety, security and environment) globally.  Governments backing up banking institutions will have to replenish cash thru collections of newer/higher taxes.

If you have excess cash, hang on to it.  Cash is king.  Spread out your savings in different banks.  Take note of PDIC's bank guarantees.  Stay on top of current events.  Discuss the current global crisis at home, engage your kids in the dialogue. Make them understand what is going on. Do not underestimate their wisdom and innocence in economics."

-Uncle Ramon

Now I know I wouldn't be able to purchase any cameras out there soon... Crap. And i just lost mine *thankfully it's the old one* but who cares, this is more important. So I'm back to helping my parents and looking for pay-per-post. Smorty and Blogsvertise have both stopped sending me campaigns. Due to inactivity maybe or something...But I'm trying to win them back! I got to save up!

I'm going to experience incredible pain again this Thursday... Molar extraction Part 2 is coming up! Nuts I tell ya. I just really hope that all this hulabaloo is enough for my teeth problem. Sighs. :dead

Anyway, am having fun this sembreak depsite everything. More moves = more fun. More time to spend with friends too! I had so much with Jinny and Chair a while ago playing badminton! Love it!!

I've been plurking a lot recently so you can catch me there! Pls do add me up =) Here please =)

I'm going to add end links for my pay to post sites in case new readers would like to sign up! hehe =)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Spectacular!!!!

WOW!!!

OMG!!!

WTFART!!!

WHOOAA!!!

MAGNIFICENT!!!!

SPECTACULAR!!!!

These were all my reactions to the opening of Beijing Olympics 2008. I missed the first 10 minutes of the show but I didn't care because I was already BLOWN AWAY by the lights, choreography, sounds and the intensity of all these elements harmonizing with each other. OMG, I have never seen anything like it. I even have no idea how to describe some performances because, I honestly have never see anything...as beautiful or intricate or complicated or aesthetic as what director Zhang Yimou has choreographed. Honestly, you have to watch it to believe it. Unfortunately, all the Youtube videos about the Beijing Olympics opening have been removed so I can't show you any clips... sobs.. I'll try to find some videos though.

The performance depicted the thousands year old history of China, highlighting the 4 greatest inventions of China. 2008 musicians and 25000 performers graced the arena through dancing, acrobating, singing, etc with spectacular pyrotechnics (OMG GRABE UNG FIREWORKS!! WHOA SUPERB!) Here are some pics
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/00787/olympic-performers-_787817c.jpg

These pictures I say do NOT do justice as to how beautiful it looked. I say, catch a replay and WATCH it. Swear, your 2 hour watch wouldn't be wasted. I have never been more proud in my life to be a Chinese. China has delivered an astounding performance and the next Olympics host will have to work their arses off to be as good or to surpass what China did today. I feel like China practically shoved in US's faces the power of China's economy now. Man, I wish I were there at Beijing. This experience would have been surreal. Timm's mom must have been so HAPPY! urgh!! =)

我是中國人!

Yey! I can finally type chinese characters here! Thanks to Apple! Now I gotta watch the games... yey!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Queer the 2nd

If I am not mistaken, I think that this is my 2nd post regarding being Queer... not about me... but about how life is becoming crazier and crazier.

Look at this, 50 years ago, Cellphones and the internet (was it even conceptualized yet?) were only real in the ideas and imagination of people. Even travelling to the moon would just be an episode in one of the old X-files movie. Yet here we are ladies and gentlemen at the 10s of the 21st century who are all knowledgeable about stem cell research, apple products (everything with i in front of the word like, iMe or iWhatever) and more innovations that one can possible think of. Even though it is quite beneficial to humankind but I think that technology is a wee bit detrimental to our psychological, sociological and natural state of being.

We just had a debate about sex change and transexuals (I am not against them mind you) yesterday, about it being available to minors and also the recent news about the Fil-Am transvestite who gave birth to a healthy daughter were the rage of discussions. I mean look at society now, it's so different becaus everyone is becoming radical and all think that they are right therefore they just do whatever they want. It's just so different now. Back then, there were only 2 sexes, male and female, but now humanity can be classified to even as much as 5 sexes!! (INMHO). And what about women changing gender who then give birth to kids? I don't know, maybe it's because I'm weirded so much about the fact that I thought the woman was actually a man. If he was really a man, I'd puke if I'd know that he'd given birth because I for one, know that it is only possible in the game THE SIMS and it is between man and alien!! Brr!! Again, I am not against transexuals, it is just me speaking my opinion about it.

I lost my math notebook. And it's 2 days away from the Long Exam, HOW THE HECK AM I SUPPOSED TO REVIEW NOW?? Crap, i think i'll faint... I lost one of the pairs of my Momo earrings... noo! Why is everything going so wrong in my life now? Sighs.. and to think that I am experiencing panic attacks now. If you consider the heavy fast breathing and the feeling that you're gonna die and escape your body is a panic attack, then I had one. Grabe, I hope that I'll be sane after all of this.

My parents and I watched Hancock last Sunday (my brother was MIA again coz of gazillion projects - good thing I still don't have! hehe). It wasn't as good as expected but again, this movie was queer. The concept and storyline would have been great already if it weren't for the "twist" that they put. Dad then said that the plot was ripped off from a Bulaceno provincial tale about angels coming to earth and reproducing but eventually their existence faded away. I think it's a beautiful story. To think that there literally are angels among us.. It would be cool, wouldn't it? hehe.

On a lighter note, Stephie dear has been given by her cousin a domain! Go visit her scrumptious site right now!! lolz!

I think I'll go blog again next time, I forgot to say something! URGH! lolz

Updates when I update! =) :cool

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Doggy Ate Bone

Our golden retriever Rocky just ate a chicken bone! Contrary to popular comic belief, dogs don't just go biting a chicken bone but they sort of try to chew and eat it as well therefore endangering their lives. It is quite dangerous for them since these bone shards could damage their intestines/stomach. I am so worried for Rocky!! GRR it's that darn brother of mine who doesn't know how to clean himself up therefore leaving chicken bone on the table within Rocky's reach! GREAT DARN IT!!! I don't want to lose another dog.... please let Rocky be safe... please..... Please do pray for him.

And to add to my sorrows is the news that a teacher assistant died around last Sunday and his body was only found yesterday morning at the Ateneo de Manila University. I only heard of it last night and I was really really shocked. To think that I even passed by De La Costa Hall when going to the leong hall for orientation for the debate. Wow.... it's really scary to know that someone died so close.... Grabe... May his soul rest in peace...

Well on the lighter side of things, June 28 marks history for it is the last day of Bill Gates at Microsoft. After years of hard work to establish his 260$ billion company, he is finally going to retire and leave his office. But nevertheless, Bill will still head his charity foundation. I got this news from Yugatech by the way and they have this nifty little video there about a parody of what Bill's last day would be. It's really HILARIOUS and great CAMEOS! Just watch it and you'll know what I mean.

I've always admired Bill Gates. I mean he made microsoft and who here doesn't have one?? Come on, you have got to have MS word. And Windows, who didn't start with windows here? It's not possible that you started out with Linux. Bill made a great impact to our world especially to mine and I just wanna thank him for that. He has changed how view things in life by enhancing our computer experience. Sure he isn't as creative as Steve Jobs and windows may be virus-filled but it's definitely the most user-friendly. And I admire him too for his great mind. High school dropouts turned successful are always my idols :Bill, Steve, Walt Disney and that guy from pursuit of happiness. These are all great people and I can't believe that Bill is retiring. Well have a good life Mr. Gates, you definitely deserved it! =)

Okay, school hasn't been that cool with me now. I've come to discover that I'm a C+ to B girl. Darn, how am I gonna be in the dean's list (ASA pa ako!) when all the grades I'm getting are all UGH?? People say that I should be contented with that score but the thing is I'm not. I don't want to be a one hit wonder. I want to make change people. I want to do my best and see my efforts bear fruit. I aspire to be a straight A student. Take note of aspire, it is likened to a dream that may or may not happen. Sighs... somebody help me out of this slump!

Well anyway, I'm not getting better but the summer movies are. I have already watched The Incredible Hulk, Prince Caspian, Kung Fu Panda and Wanted and surprisingly I liked all of them (well Prince failed my expectations and Kung Fu Panda was funnier than I expected, I gotta write a movie review about this!). Wanted was especially the MOST INTENSE non-horror film I have ever seen. And James McAvoy is now in my star list!! Ever since seeing him in Becoming Jane, I just knew that his guy is gonna MAKE IT BIG!! Haha! Anyway, my next attractions are Hancock, THE DARK KNIGHT, Hell Boy 2 AND MOST INFINITELY, WALL*E!!

OMG!! Did you guys read themovieblog review about Wall*E??? If people are seriously considering this as the BEST PIXAR MOVIE ever and even managed to knocked The Incredibles and Finding Nemo and Ratatouille (my best films for pixar ever!!) out of the ball park, then WALL*E MUST BE FRIGGING GOOOD! A movie mostly without dialogue, a movie who soley uses visual animation literally to create a story, a movie about robots who have FEELINGS, is actually better than any of these talking masterpieces. If this is true, then i CANNOT WAIT FOR AUGUST 13!! I have no idea why SM or any other cinema here wasn't able to get rights (or whatever you call it, sorry am not exactly a lawyer type of person) to distribute it here the same time as US does!! I mean Wall*E is one of the most awaited movies of the year and they didn't bring it here on time!! Nor did they to Dark Knight. I think this is totally unfair making a fan (aku!!) wait for a movie for 2 months! I mean, no wonder piracy is so prevalent here. I am just soo maaaadd!! URGH!

Anyway... I'm still waiting for the other cool movies like the new James Bond film, REPO the musical and more!! EEEK! I can't wait!! hehee

Sighs.. better go back to the real world now and do my assignment. Sighs, oh college life!

Updates when I update! :cool =)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Iron Man Movie Review

The recent blockbusters shown this summer has triggered the movie-geek in me again. I mean who here can proudly say that their favorite site is a movie blog? Well I can, and anyway, this particular movie practically nudged me to do a review! hehe.

Superhero movies are generally money-making movies since some people are already familiar with their backgrounds and of course, we can't wait to see a new Superman or a new Batman or some other reason. The main point is that they make a lot of money therefore we still keep on seeing these superhero movies made (look, in just a few years, we're gonna get to see another Incredible Hulk movie). So no matter how small that superhero is, it's gonna make big money, but nobody anticipated Ironman -what some people call a rip-off of Batman of DC comics - t$o be HUGE SUCCESS! 100+million dollars on the opening weekend! Whoa, THAT IS HUGE! Not since Batman Begins or Spiderman or Transformers have I enjoyed a superhero movie in a long time! They say that only a few people know Ironman so they wouldn't be too sure if it would even make $70M but I have heard of Ironman from my bro WHO IS A HUUGGEE FFAANN! I also enjoyed the cartoons back then. hehe well for those who don't know Ironman, the movie, here's my own brief synopsis.

Ironman is about rich tycoon Tony Stark who was kidnapped by terrorists using his own weapons for 3 months in Afghanistan. He was tasked to build a superpower weapon, the Jericho missile, for them but instead, he built his own "Iron" (of course it's something titanium metal thing) suit and sought his freedom. Seeing the error of his ways, he tries to change his company but as always, change isn't always approved by everybody which results in pandemonium and of course, more iron suits! wee!

What made Ironman different was it was "less dark" than Batman Begins. It had more comic relief moments. The lady love wasn't a whiny heroine who was captured by the villain. And of course, the movie had Robert Downey Jr. This guys IS the movie. He brought charisma and depth to the movie. He played Tony Stark so perfectly that he probably deserves and Oscar nod, that is if he will get one anyway. The visuals are also breathtaking especially the scene when he was testing the suit! Love it! But transformers was better on VFX though.

So Ironman, could be my best superhero movie this year. It could change though, I mean the Dark Knight is coming in just a few months, and my favorite villain for Batman is there! Plus, as they say, the late Heath Ledger could give Jack Nicholson a run for money! And plus, the trailers are awesome! And Katie holmes is ooouutt! hehee =)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Optimissimu

Okay, so the title's a made up word but does it ring a bell - any bell - for you guys on any matter?

Well so okay

It's my mangled word for optimism.

Since I'm much of a gaya-gaya (fil word for those who can't understand which means copycat BUT NOT IN A BAD SENSE, hopefully), I decided to join Issa's league of optimism/positive blogs so I'll probably post another one of these in the upcoming weeks, months, years, who knows. I just wanted to post something to remind me how lucky I am still. How lucky we all are and how happy we really are in the midst of all these catastrophes and chaos.

Here's my Top ___ reasons why I'm incessantly happy/joyful/exuberant/quirky/perky/silly/goofy/weirdo this past months

1. I've graduated High school. Mission accomplish for goal number one! One small step for Tiff, a giant leap for Tiffy kind! (meaning, me too? lolz)

2. Being an AYF NDA 2008. Nothing can compare to the magic of stage and friendship. I LOVE BROADWAYS! The people here, made my summer more interesting than usual.

3. I'm still alive, i wasn't killed in some tremendous earthquake. Oh, and I encourage you all to please, please, help in some way the victims of the calamity in China. 22000 have already been reported dead but I'm sure that thousands more are buried within the grime and rubble and are trapped in collapsed buildings. Donate to Tzu chi or some org like it.

4. I've met some Atenista batchmates even before the school year. Well even before the Orsem anyway. Even though the communication is only through ym or the fresh atenean site, I'm so thankful that I've met them.

5. I've commuted with my best pals yesterday. I miss riding the jeep, the LRT and i hope i get to do it again. The sense of independence overwhelms me. I realized that I, will never get lost as long as i know how to commute (and bring a good umbrella)

6. The play-offs are happening this month, i mean, this is probably why i love watching NBA, to tease my brother and to feel the excitement on court!

7. SUMMER MOVIES. US summer movies that is. There's a great line up this what with Ironman as an opening number and speed racer next, and then the Indy movie, and then Prince Caspian, Dark Knight.... OMG!!! I CAN'T WAIT!

8. American Idol is the bomb! No matter if I don't have a pick this season, I do have a bet. (Ang gulo ko noh? heehe) DAVID COOK, YOU ARE GOING TO WIN!!

9. Going back to scouting, even for just 3 days, has been a blast. I recall the endless sleepless nights, the fun at camp, the commanding and SAGO, oh boy i miss them! I also got to meet my 2nd mother and the other scouts as well! missed them all!

10. Haha, sleep late, wake up late, this is what summer is all about.

11. Okay, i gotta admit, the food and lakwatsa makes me A TON HAPPY this summer. A TON.

12. International Herald Tribune is the best newspaper, anywhere. READ IT! Great comics too! lolz, Calvin and Hobbes and dilbert are my fave! Snoopy too =)

So i think this is it. I'll probably post again next time.

Updates when I update! =)$
